BROWNWOOD, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team trailed after doubles, but the Cru fought back for a 5-4 victory over Howard Payne Wednesday in Brownwood. UMHB trailed 2-1 going into singles play, but got wins from
Alejandro Omana at #1 singles and
Cody Aaron at #2 singles to grab the lead. Howard Payne won #4 and #4 singles to go up 4-3.
Thomas Knightstep gutted out a three-set victory at #6 singles to tie the match and
John Swords won a gritty three-set decision at #5 singles to give the Cru the victory.
UMHB improves to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference West Division play with the win. The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 0-14 overall and 0-2 in the ASC West on the spring.
The Cru will return to action with a non-conference match at Southwestern University on April 8
th. That match is a reschedule of a match that was postponed in February due to weather issues.
