Women's Golf finishes third at Schreiner Spring Shootout

KERRVILLE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team closed out its first tournament of the spring with a third-place finish at the Schreiner Spring shootout Tuesday in Kerrville.
 
The Cru finished with a 320-340=660 team total to finish in third place after holding a share of the opening round lead. UT Dallas won the tournament, finishing four shots ahead of UMHB with a 320-336=656 team total and Trinity University edged out the Cru for second place with a 332-326=658. There was a nine-team field competing in the tournament.
 
Sydney McConnell posted the low individual finish for UMHB after tying for third place with a 75-84=159. Karen Alvarez won individual medalist honors after shooting 78-76=154. Sarah Kmiecik tied for seventh-place for the Cru after posting a 79-82=151 and Jade Ming tied for ninth-place at 80-83=163. Annika Criss tied for 22nd after posting 89-85=174 for UMHB, Annie Hasselbach shared 28th place with a 86-91=177 and Zoe Kelton finished in a tie for 33rd place with a86-94=180.
 
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 6,866-yard layout at Comanche Trace Golf Club in Kerrville. The UMHB women will return to action with the Jekyll Island Invitational. That tournament will be played March 19-21 in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
