ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team fell victim to a War Hawk offensive surge Saturday afternoon in Abilene, falling 7-6 to McMurry in the series finale. UMHB moved to 19-12 overall and 13-8 in American Southwest Conference action with the War Hawks improving to 17-9 on the season and 13-8 in league play.
Bailey Wagner gave UMHB a lead in the top of the first inning, slamming a three-RBI home run. McMurry put up solo-run innings in the first and third to cut UMHB's lead to just one run. The Cru responded with a pair of runs in the fourth with
Alyssa Bates scoring on a fielder's choice and
Tyeann Johnson reaching on an error. UMHB's lead was short-lived as the War Hawks came roaring back in the bottom of the fifth inning. McMurry scored five runs, highlighted by a three-RBI home run from Jessika Truax. The Cru added one more run on an RBI double from
Elisabeth Paul in the sixth but McMurry got out of the contest with a 7-6 win.

Taylor Holman and Paul led UMHB with two hits each while six different Crusaders scored runs for UMHB.
Bayleigh Grogan took the loss for the Cru, throwing six innings with 12 hits and seven runs allowed. Kinleigh Stotts was the winner for the War Hawks, pitching a complete seven innings with six runs allowed. UMHB totaled six runs on 11 hits with two errors while the War Hawks had seven runs on 12 hits with two errors.
