Sydney McConnell finished out play with another consistent round on the third day of the 2021 Division III National Championship Thursday in Michigan. However, McConnell's tournament ended after three rounds when she missed the cut.
McConnell fired a final round 82 to finish the tournament with an 82-83-82=247 total score. She started off hole #1 on Thursday and opened with a pair of pars. She would make the turn at five over and added four more pars on the back nine to finish at ten over for the round. McConnell's 247 total put her at 31 over for the tournament and in a tie for 53
rd place. Makensie Toole of George Fox University has the individual lead for the second straight day after shooting 76-70-74=220.
McConnell is just the third UMHB women's golfer to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships as an individual. She joined Mackenzie Ralston (2015) and Elizabeth Davis (2016) on that list.
The four-day, 72-hole tournament is being played on a par-72, 5,818-yard layout at Forest Akers Golf Club in East Lansing, Michigan. The field was cut to the low 15 teams and six individuals not on an advancing team following the completion of Thursday's play.
