KINGSVILLE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor beach volleyball program continued play in Kingsville today, taking on Stephen F. Austin and Colorado Mesa University. The Cru went 0-2 on the sand with good competition with a pair of higher divisional programs.
"Day two went really well," Head Coach
Mark Pryor said. "Playing against a quality Division I program in SFA, which competes in the Atlantic Sun conference for beach, was a great opportunity for our kids to see up close the level and speed of play that we would like to get to at one point."
"Our second match against Colorado Mesa was a really good progression or us," Pryor added. "I saw each pair able to extend the rally against an established program. They will be a very solid nationally ranked Division II program, so this was great experience."
UMHB returns to action on Wednesday, March 2
nd in a pair of matches in Nacogdoches. The Cru will face Cedar Valley College and Stephen F. Austin.
"Overall, for the first weekend for the program to ever compete, I am really pleased. We have a couple more road matches against high-level teams, which will be a learning experience. After that, we get to play at home against a lot of peer institutions and we will able to see hwere we stand."
