Softball ranked 25th in NFCA Top 25 Poll

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team has been ranked 25th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll, released Tuesday.
 
UMHB makes their debut in the poll tied for 25th with five votes. The Cru went 4-1 last week with a win over Texas Lutheran University and a three-game sweep of the University of Texas at Dallas. UMHB is currently 17-5 on the season.
 
Christopher Newport moved up four spots to No. 1 with 250 points and ten first-place votes. Salisbury remained second with 240 points while Virginia Wesleyan is in third with 230 points. American Southwest Conference affiliate Belhaven University is in fourth with 220 points while Texas Lutheran University dropped to fifth after last week with 210 points. East Texas Baptist, another ASC affiliate, moved up to sixth with 200 points. GREGORY
 
The Cru was one of three programs making their debut in the poll. Loras is tied for 25th with five votes while Wartburg (13-5) is ranked 22nd with 40 votes.
 
UMHB is 1-1 against nationally-ranked opponents this season. The Cru takes on Belhaven University this weekend in Belton. The series opens with a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, March 25th and concludes with a single-game on Saturday, March 26th at noon.
