PEARL, Mississippi - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team split a Friday doubleheader at Belhaven University, taking the first game 7-0 before falling 2-1 in game two. The split moves the Cru to 11-10 overall and 6-8 in American Southwest Conference play and brings Belhaven to 12-9 overall and 11-6 in the ASC.

UMHB opened the scoring in the second inning of game one as
Drake Herrera hit an infield single that scored
Warren Sammons. The very next batter,
Caimyn Holiday, was hit by a pitch that brought in
Ryan Farmer to score. The Cru added to that lead with RBI sacrifice flies from Herrera in the fourth inning and the sixth inning. Taking a 4-0 lead into the last inning, UMHB added insurance runs on an RBI walk issued to
Rhett Grosz and a two-RBI single by
Kaden deBerardinis to seal the 7-0 win. Herrera led the Cru with three RBI while Sammons added three hits in the contest.
James McGlumphy started on the mound for UMHB and threw a complete game shutout on his way to earning the victory (3-2). McGlumphy gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out eight in his outing. Harris Coleman started on the mound for Belhaven and surrendered his first loss of the season (5-1). Coleman threw six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. Will Swift threw in relief for Coleman, giving up three runs on three hits in his inning of work.

Game two proved to be a pitchers' duel through and through. UMHB got on the board first as
Hunter Jones grounded out to the shortstop to bring in
Caimyn Holiday in the fourth inning. Belhaven responded in the sixth inning when Nathan Herron scored on a throwing error. The Blazers took the lead in the same frame on an RBI single by Caleb Whittle, making it a 2-1 ballgame. The Cru was unable to score the rest of the way, sealing the victory for the Blazers.
Rahul Champaneri started on the mound in game two and took the loss moving him to 1-3 on the season. Champaneri threw six innings, giving up two unearned runs on five hits.
Trevor Ripke came in relief and threw two no-hit, shutout innings, striking out three batters. Brett Sanchez started on the mound for Belhaven and earned the win (3-1). Sanchez threw a complete game and gave up just one run on seven hits while striking out seven.
Caimyn Holiday ended the day with a new school record for assists in a career in the game with his 291st.

The two teams will close out the series tomorrow with a single game starting at 1 P.M. in Jackson, MS.
