Trinity's Jessie Lloyd doubled to open the second inning and scored three batters later on a single from Sydney Watson.
Grason Long responded with a three-up, three-down inning in the third for the Cru and pitched another shutout in the fourth. UMHB placed runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth but a double-play prevented the equalizer. Long allowed just one base runner in the top of the fifth and opened the Cru's fifth-inning offense with a triple to right field. Long scored later in the inning on an RBI double from
Bryton Wright to even the contest at one. Trinity responded with solo home runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 3-1 lead on the Cru.
Elliott led the Cru with two hits while Long, Crofut and Wright each added one hit. Long was the lone Crusader to score while Wright had the Cru's RBI.
Grason Long took the loss for UMHB, throwing six innings with six hits and three runs allowed. Long had eight strikeouts in 21 at-bats. Emery Boettcher earned the win for the Tigers, throwing five innings with five hits and one run allowed while Jordan Arce earned the save with four strikeouts in two innings of work. Lexi Harris put UMHB on the scoreboard in the bottom of that frame, scoring off a passed ball for a 1-0 UMHB lead. UMHB tacked on another run in the bottom of the second when
Blakely Niles scored on an RBI double from
Allyse Castillo. Trinity responded in the top of the fourth inning off an RBI double from Peyton Bowser before UMHB put up three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth frame.

Julia Crofut hit in one more run on an RBI single to end the inning with a 5-1 UMHB lead. Flores sealed the game with a three-up, three-down to seal the 5-1 win.
Castillo led the Cru with two hits while seven other Crusaders added one each. Harris had a team-high two runs, followed by
Taylor Henken, Polleschultz and Niles with one. Flores earned the win in the circle for the Cru, throwing seven innings with five hits and one run allowed. Flores struck out six of her 30 batters faced.
UMHB opens American Southwest Conference action next week in a three-game series at Howard Payne University in Brownwood. The Cru opens with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, March 3 and closes the series with a 12 p.m. single game on Saturday, March 4
th.
