BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team fell to McMurry University 3-2 Saturday afternoon in Belton. The Cru fell to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in American Southwest Conference play while the War Hawks improved to 11-3 on the season and 5-1 in league action.

Tori Skinner home in the bottom of the second inning. UMHB added one more in the same inning when
Blane Simmons scored on an RBI double by
Grason Long. The Cru's lead lasted until the next frame when the War Hawks scored two runs on an error. UMHB's
Kami Flores pitched three hitless innings to hold McMurry at three, but the Cru was unable to score again, falling 3-2 to the War Hawks.
Jenna Lewis was the winner for the War Hawks moving to 7-1 on the season. Long started in the circle for the Cru, taking the loss after pitching two innings. Flores pitched in relief, throwing five innings allowing one allowed hit and two strikeouts. UMHB outhit the War Hawks 7-4, led by Eggleston and Skinner with two hits each. UMHB totaled two runs on seven hits with one error while McMurry had three runs on four hits with one error.
UMHB returns to action on Wednesday, March 15
th in a noon doubleheader against Illinois Wesleyan University on the campus of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
