90ANGOLA, IN. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling came out strong Thursday evening and continued to set record scores, dominating Trine University 269.905-247.945.
UMHB opened the meet with a solid score of 9.750 in Compulsory Acro, nearly two points higher than in Tuesday night's performance. They added a 9.850 in Compulsory Pyramid, a 9.800 in Toss, and a new record-setting 9.250 in Compulsory Tumbling to total at 38.650 in Compulsory. UMHB showed their strength in all three Acro heats, scoring a new high of 9.950 in Five Element Acro and a combined 28.900 Acro. The Cru ended the first half with another program high score of 9.750 in Inversion Pyramid, and continued to increase their scores with a 9.800 in Synchronized Pyramid and a 9.950 in Open Pyramid with an overall 29.500 Pyramid score. UMHB ended the first half with a score of final score of 97.050.
Trine College opened the first half with a score of 34.550 in Compulsory Acro, followed by a 26.650 in Acro, and a 28.700 in Pyramid. The Thunder landed on a final score of 89.900 after the first three events of the evening.
The Cru did not miss a beat in the second half, coming out full force with a 27.400 score in Toss. UMHB continued to show their competitiveness and athleticism in Tumbling, finishing with a combined score of 53.275.
Kensley Walters led the tumbling scores with a 9.550 in Six Element Pass,
Hanan Vasquez with a 9.400 in Aerial pass and
Jenna Hall with a 9.325 in Open Pass. The Cru closed out the meet with a 92.180 in Team event, finishing the meet with a new program-high of 269.905.
Trine finished the meet with an 88.320 in Team Event, leaving them with an overall score of 247.945 on the evening.
UMHB set new program records in Compulsory Acro (9.75), Compulsory Tumbling (9.25), Compulsory (38.65), Five Element Acro (9.95), Inversion Pyramid (9.75), Open Toss (9.15), Toss (27.400), Aerial Pass (9.4) and Open Pass (9.325) along with a new program-high final score of 269.905.
UMHB heads back to Belton, Texas and returns to action Saturday, March 25
th at home vs. East Texas Baptist at 3:00 p.m.
