BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling team set six new program records Thursday night in Belton, recording the program's highest-scoring meet with a 268.680.
UMHB opened the meet with three 9s in Compulsory, scoring a 9.40 in Compulsory Acro and a 9.650 in both Compulsory Pyramid and Compulsory Toss. The Cru followed that with a trio of 9s in the Acro Event. UMHB opened with a 9.40 in Five Element and scored a 9.30 in Six Element. The Cru finished with a 9.60 in Seven Element, tying the program record in that heat. UMHB closed the first half with a 28.700 in Pyramid, going into halftime with a 94.400
Hawaii Pacific scored a pair of nines in Compulsory and added one in the Acro event. The Sharks competed three heats of 9.5 or higher in Pyramid to give them a 92.150 after the first half.
The Cru opened the second half with a pair of school records in the Toss event. UMHB's 9.050 in Open Toss set a new program record while the overall score of 26.750 was also a program-best. The Cru scored a 52.400 in the Tumbling event, led by
Kensley Walters with a school-record 9.325 in the Six Element pass and
Jenna Hall with a school-record 9.300 in the Open pass. UMHB closed the meet with a program-high in team event, scoring a 95.13 which bested the previous high score by 2.24 points.
Hawaii Pacific recorded three straight nines in the Toss event, totaling 27.900. The Sharks followed that with a 54.675 in Tumbling and a 95.97 to finish the meet with a 270.645, beating the Cru by 1.965 points. UMHB acquired only 18.5 points in deductions while the Sharks had 21.53.
UMHB returns to action in a pair of meets next week. The Cru opens with a 6 p.m. meet at Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan before travelling to Trine University in Angola, Indiana. UMHB returns home to face East Texas Baptist University at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25
th.
