RICHARDSON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team completed a three-game sweep of the University of Texas at Dallas with a 5-0 win over the Comets Saturday afternoon in Richardson.
Kami Flores opened the game with four scoreless frames, throwing a perfect third-inning. The Cru scored three runs in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.
Lindsey Polleschultz opened the inning with a single before advancing to second on a hit-by-pitch.
Lexi Harris followed that, reaching on an error before Blame Simmons and Polleschultz both scored on a two-RBI double from
Bailey Eggleston.
Izzy Gutierrez followed that with a single that scored Harris, before Eggleston scored on a throwing error to put the Cru up by four.
UMHB added one more run in the sixth to secure the 5-0 win. Polleschultz led the Cru with two hits while four other Crusaders added one each. Eggleston had a team-high two RBI while Polleschultz led with two runs.
Kami Flores earned the win, throwing five innings with five hits allowed.
Grason Long pitched in relief, throwing two shutout innings. The Cru totaled five runs on six hits with no errors while the Comets had no runs on five hits with three errors.
UMHB returns to action next week in a three-game series against University of the Ozarks. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, April 21st and closes with a 12 p.m. single-game on Saturday, April 22nd.
