RICHARDSON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's tennis team broke a five-year postseason-win drought with a 5-3 victory in the American Southwest Conference Men's Tennis Championship Tournament Quarterfinals Thursday morning in Richardson.
UMHB jumped to a 2-1 lead after a pair of wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Cru extended the lead to 4-1 with a
Drew Gonzales win at No. 5 singles and an
Ethan Kittredge victory at No. 4 singles. The Tigers fought back with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles before
Brylee White clinched the match for the Cru, earning a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
The win marks the first quarterfinal victory in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament since 2017 and first under head coach
Daniel White. UMHB returns to action tomorrow in a 10 a.m. match against Hardin-Simmons University on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson.
