BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor announced the addition of Fernando Lisboa to the men's soccer coaching staff on Wednesday.
Lisboa joined the Cru after spending two years as a graduate assistant at Dallas Baptist University (NCAA Division II), where he helped the Patriots to the first winning season in program history. During his time at DBU, Lisboa coached 12 all-conference selections, two all-tournament honorees and two all-region athletes. The Patriots also advanced to the conference tournament for the first time in program history. Lisboa was an integral part of the goalkeeper and defensive training systems, helping the team set a school mark for fewest goals allowed in a season.
Prior to his time at DBU, Lisboa worked as a private soccer coach at Golden Touch (Raleigh, NC) and sports management intern at soccer.com. Lisboa holds a USSF D License and has a Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma from United Soccer Coaches.
"I am grateful for this incredible opportunity to be part of UMHB Men's Soccer coaching staff," said Coach Lisboa. "I can't wait to see what God has planned for the future of this program. I am eager to meet the players and contribute to the success of the program."
Lisboa played collegiate soccer at Hastings College, leading his team to a national finalist finish in 2019. He earned NAIA All-American honors and was named Great Plains Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Lisboa was also a first team all-conference selection and a first team all-region selection.
"We are excited to add Coach Lisboa to our staff," said Head Coach
Ben Allen. "He was a decorated player at the NAIA level and part of a coaching staff that set records at Dallas Baptist. He is a great fit to help our team culture of creating better husbands, fathers and bosses. I am confident Coach Lisboa will help propel our program to the next level."
Lisboa is a native of Piracicaba, Brazil. He graduated from Hastings College in 2020 with a degree in Sports and Recreational Management. Lisboa also holds a master's of science in Kinesiology from Dallas Baptist University.
