Acrobatics and Tumbling sets new high score in season opener at Baylor

WACO, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor acrobatics and tumbling team opened the 2024 season setting a new school record with a total score of 272.465 against No. 1 Baylor University Sunday afternoon in Waco.

UMHB opened the meet with a 37.250 in the Compulsory event, where the Cru outscored the Bears 9.90-9.85 in the Compulsory Pyramid heat. UMHB scored a trio of 9.0s in the Acro event to total a 28.35, adding 29.05 points in Pyramid event, highlighted by a duo of 9.8s in Synchronized Pyramid and Open Pyramid.

Baylor scored a 38.70 in Compulsory before totaling a 29.10 in the Acro event. The Bears boasted a trio of 9.85s or higher in Pyramid to close the half ahead 97.40-94.65.

UMHB totaled a 27.00 in Toss, followed by a 53.325 in Tumbling, highlighted by a 9.6 in the Open Tumbling pass. Baylor used a trio of 9.0s to record a 29.80 in Toss, adding a 57.100 in Tumbling.

The Cru set a new program record in Team Event, outscoring the Bears 97.49-96.92. UMHB also set a new school record with a final score of 272.465. Baylor claimed the win with a meet total of 279.870.

UMHB returns to action Sunday, February 18th in a 3:00 p.m. contest against East Texas Baptist University in Belton.
