BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team swept a doubleheader against Austin College to close the series 3-0 Saturday in Belton. The Cru improved to 3-0 on the season while the Roos fell to 0-3.
The Roos were first on the board in game one, bringing in a run on a fielder's choice in the first inning. Austin College added one more run in the third inning on an RBI double down the left field line and extended the margin to three in the next frame with an RBI single from Tino Ramirez.

UMHB cut the gap to two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a
Riley Bender double that scored
Rhett Grosz.
Easton Cline followed with an RBI to score Bender and make it a one-run game. The Roos responded in the top of the fifth, adding three runs to extend their lead 6-2.

The Cru loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth when
Kaden deBerardinis hit a sacrifice flyout to center field to score
Chris Perez. UMHB added one more in the frame with a
Cameron Talburt run on a fielder's choice. UMHB continued to press in the seventh and eventually tied the contest to force extra innings.
Tyler Betts got on base with a single to right field and scored on a home run from
Kaden deBerardinis for a 6-6 knot.

The Roos fought back in the top of the eighth, scoring on an RBI single from Ryan Padfield.
Exavier Mendez was first on base for UMHB, hitting a single before advancing to third on an error.
Ryan Farmer entered to pinch run for Mendez, scoring the equalizer on a
Cameron Talburt double. After a walk from Betts, deBerardinis hit an RBI single to score Talburt and seal the 8-7 walk-off victory.

Rahul Champaneri opened the contest for the Cru, pitching 4.1 innings allowing six runs with four strikeouts.
Jacob Haynes also made a mound appearance for UMHB, throwing 1.2 innings.
Robert Sanford earned the win for the Cru, pitching the final two innings and allowing just one run on three hits with three strikeouts. UMHB outhit the Roos 14-13, led by deBerardinis with two hits and four RBI.

Game two played scoreless until the third inning when the Roos put two runs on the board. UMHB responded, closing to gap to one on an RBI single from
Carson Hagan, scoring deBerardinis in the bottom of the frame.

Austin College extended their margin 3-1 in the fifth scoring on an error before McGlumphy used back-to-back strikeouts to close the inning. The Cru held the Roos through the sixth using a double-play to complete the three-up, three-down frame.

UMHB had an explosive sixth inning, taking the lead with six scored runs. The Cru loaded the bases with the first three at-bats before a Mendez hit by pitch brought Bender home. Talburt followed that with a sacrifice flyout to right field to score pinch runner
Tyler Martin for the equalizer. deBerardinis took a hit by pitch to bring in
Carson Riley before
Carson Hagan singled to left field to add two more scores. deBerardinis added the final run for the Cru, scoring on an error to extend the lead by four.

The Cru held the Roos in the seventh inning to just one base runner, securing the 7-3 win.

James McGlumphy claimed the win for UMHB, throwing six innings allowing two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
Quint Mullen closed the game for the Cru, throwing the final frame. UMHB outhit Austin College 7-6, led by Hagan and Riley with two each.

rd in a 6:00 p.m. contest against Concordia University Texas in Belton.
