Acrobatics and Tumbling wins home opener over East Texas Baptist

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling team earned a 57-point win in the 2024 home opener Sunday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 1-1 on the season with a 1-0 mark against Division III programs.

UMHB opened the meet with a 37.250 in Compulsory, scoring a season-high in Compulsory Acro (9.40). UMHB also added a 9.50 in Compulsory Pyramid and a 9.75 in Compulsory Toss. The Cru followed that with a 28.150 in Acro, highlighted by a season-high 9.650 in Seven-Element Acro. UMHB closed out the first half with a strong Pyramid event, scoring 9.55 or higher in all three heats. The Cru led with a 9.850 in Open Pyramid, totaling a 29.10 in the event and finishing with a 94.500 after the first three events.

East Texas Baptist University opened with a 21.90 in Compulsory, 22.500 in Acro and 24.050 in Pyramid.

UMHB opened the second half of action with a 26.800 in Toss, highlighted by a 9.250 in 450 Salto Toss. The Cru followed that with a 53.575 in Tumbling, earning an 8.250 or higher in all six heats. Madi Malesic, Katelyn Kolodziejczyk, Kalyn Dujka and Reagan Dathe all set a new school record with an 8.250 in Quad Pass while individual tumblers Jenna Hall, Kensley Walters and Addison Williams all scored 9.20 or higher. UMHB totaled a 53.575 in Tumbling, going into Team Event with a 174.875-135.425 lead over the Tigers.

UMHB finished with a 92.90 in Team Event, totaling 267.795 for the meet. The Tigers scored a 23.650 in Toss, followed by a 43.325 in Tumbling and a 74.470 in Team Event for a total score of 209.895.

The Cru returns to action on Sunday, February 24th in a 4 p.m. meet at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
