HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team fought 35 mph winds and hard conditions, finishing the Space City Classic in third place Tuesday in Houston. The Cru finished with a 302-287-300=889 to finish five strokes behind the tournament lead.
Grant Carter finished third individually with a 76-67-73=216. Carter ended the tournament at +3 and ranked second in par-3 scoring (+1).
William Sammons finished behind him, shooting a 77-71-76=224 (+11) to finish tied for 11
th, followed by
Kyle Wandel and Will Mullin tied for 16
th at 226 (+13).
Trey Archer also competed for the Cru, carding a 229 while
Pablo Cortazar represented the Cru in the individual field.
Concordia University Texas won the tournament with a 292-299-293=884, finishing at +32 after three round. Trinity University came in second with an 888 (+36), followed by UMHB in third at 889 (+37). University of St. Thomas (Texas) finished in fourth with an 897 (+5) with Texas Lutheran rounding out the top five at 898 (+46). Millsaps (+69), Jacksonville College (+70), Hardin-Simmons (+76) and Howard Payne (+83) also fielded teams.
