Acrobatics & Tumbling beats pair of Division II opponents in first home tri-meet

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor acrobatics and tumbling team earned a win in the program's first-home tri meet, beating a pair of Division II opponents Augustana University and East Stroudsburg University with a 265.465. 

UMHB hosted its first-ever tri meet and opened the meet with a trio of 9.5s or higher. The Cru also scored a record-high 9.9 in Compulsory Toss en route to a 37.00 score in Compulsory. UMHB added three more 9.5s or higher in Acro, highlighted by a 9.85 in Five Element Acro. The Cru opened the Pyramid event strong with another school record, scoring a 9.9 in Inversion Pyramid. The Cru followed with a 9.6 in Synchronized Pyramid and a 9.9 in Open Pyramid for an event-total of 29.4. 

The Cru went into halftime in the lead with an overall score of 95.3. Augustana scored a 35.050 in Compulsory, 27.500 in Acro and 28.750 in Pyramid to finish with a 91.300 after the first half. East Stroudsburg scored a 32.100 in Compulsory, 21.750 in Acro and 25.250 in Pyramid to finish with a 79.100 after the first three events. 

UMHB opened the second half with a 27.00 in Toss, highlighted by a 9.05 in Open Toss. The Cru also tied the program record in Synchronized Toss with a 9.00. Kensley Walters highlighted the Cru's Tumbling event, setting a new school record in the Aerial Pass with a 9.55. UMHB finished that event with a 52.825 and scored a 90.34 in Team Event to win the meet with a total score of 265.465.

Augustana finished with a 259.095, scoring a 27.450 in Toss, 53.175 in Tumbling and an 87.170 in Team Event. East Stroudsburg closed the meet with a 22.500 in Toss, 42.975 in Tumbling and a 71.670in Team Event, totaling 216.245 in the meet. 

UMHB returns to action on Friday, March 15th in a 1 p.m. (HST) contest at Hawai'i Pacific University in Honolulu.
