MEQUON, Wis. - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor acrobatics and tumbling team won the 2024 National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association Division III Tournament Championship Saturday morning in Mequon.
UMHB opened the championship with a trio of 9s to total a 36.825 in Compulsory. The Cru followed that with a 28.675 in Acro, scoring 9.4 or higher in all three heats before tacking on a 29.275 in Pyramid for a halftime score of 94.775.
The Thunder scored a 33.850 in Compulsory followed by a 25.400 in Acro. Trine finished the half with a trio of 9s in Pyramid for an event total 28.250, going into the break with a score of 87.500.
UMHB opened second half action with a 27.600 in Toss, highlighted by a 9.5 in 450 Salto Toss. The Cru followed that with a 53.700 in Tumbling, scoring a trio of 9s in the individual passes. UMHB closed the event with an 87.950 in Team Event for a 264.025 total.
Trine totaled a 26.175 in Toss before adding a 46.650 in Tumbling. The Thunder scored an 85.340 in Team Event to finish with a meet total 245.665.
"It was a fun day out there with the team," senior Katelyn Kolodziejczyk said. "We're really proud of ourselves. It's a very proud moment for us that the last four years and also our entire life. It was super exciting to see our whole team compete their hearts out."
UMHB also competed in the NCATA DIII Tournament Event Finals, winning 14 of 15 heats. The Cru won the title in Five Element Acro, Six Element Acro, Seven Element Acro, Inversion Pyramid, Synchronized Pyramid, Open Pyramid, 450 Salto Toss, Synchronized Toss, Duo Tumbling, Trio Tumbling, Quad Tumbling, Aerial Tumbling, Six Element Tumbling and Open Pass.
Katelyn Kolodziejczyk and Jenna Hall were both named First Team All-Tournament while Sarah Williamson, Natalie Podsednik, Morgan Webb and Kensley Walters earned Second Team honors.
The Cru will await final rankings in the NCATA Championship Rankings to determine their fate of a bid to the NCATA National Championships April 25th - 28th in Fairmont, Virginia.
