Men’s Golf finishes fourth at West Region Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team finished fourth after two rounds at the West Region Invitational on Monday in Georgetown.

Darian Ruiz was the lead Crusader individually with a two-round 74-71=145 (+1) to tie for fourth. Grant Carter followed him in seventh with a 75-73=148 (+4) while Ian Clough and Trey Archer tied for eighth after carding a 149 (+5). Kyle Wandel is tied for 13th with a 75-75=150 (6) followed by Luke Lohman with an 81-71=152 (+8). William Sammons shot a first-day 80-78=158 (+14). Will Mullen (160), Pablo Cortazar (161), Mathis Rollin (162) and Nikolas Keratsopoulos (163) also competed for UMHB.

Trinity University led the team competition with a first day 305-290=595 (+19). UT Dallas placed second with a 596 (+20) followed by Southwestern University who carded a 599 (+23). UMHB Team A finished the day in fourth with an overall 307-296=603 (+27) while UMHB Team B held fifth with a 309-297=606 (+30). Texas Lutheran finished sixth with a 615 (+39) followed by Concordia University Texas (620). University of St. Thomas, Hardin-Simmons University and Southwestern "B" also competed in the tournament.

Luke Lohman and Kyle Wandel were two of four athletes to record an eagle on the day. Darian Ruiz ranks third in birdies with eight while Grant Carter ranks second in par five shooting (4.50).
