Women’s Basketball names six athletes to All-Conference teams; Okoye named Newcomer of the Year

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball named six athletes to the American Southwest Conference All-Conference teams, released Wednesday. Rachel Okoye was also named ASC Newcomer of the Year.
 
Rachel Okoye, a junior from Houston, was named Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Okoye totaled 211 points this season, averaging 8.1 points per game. She added 120 rebounds for a 4.6 average with 58 assists and 39 steals. Okoye scored a season-high 22 points against East Texas Baptist with six double-digit performances against conference teams.
 
Jaycie Brisco, a senior from Snook, was named First Team All-ASC and All-Defensive Team. Brisco led the conference with 213 rebounds, averaging 8.5 per game. She brought down 76 offensive boards with 137 defensive grabs. She also ranked third in the conference with 23 blocked shots and second with 56 steals. Brisco added 215 points and 82 assists in her senior season.
 
Josie Bruder, a junior from Plano, was named Second Team All-ASC. Bruder led the Cru with 279 points scored this season, averaging 12.1 points per contest. She added 96 rebounds, 79 of those defensive, with 19 total assists. Bruder also added 23 steals and 18 blocks on the season. She tallied a team-high 40 three-pointers and shot .887 from the foul line with 63 made free throws. 
 
Adyson James, a sophomore from Cibolo, earned Honorable Mention All-ASC. James ranked fourth on the team with 212 points scored, averaging 8.2 points per contest. She added 164 rebounds on the season with 22 assists and 39 steals. James also added six blocks in her first year with the Cru.
 
Karlee Cronk, a native of Lubbock, was named to the All-Freshman Team. Cronk played in all 26 games for UMHB, making 11 starts. She scored 131 points on the season with 130 rebounds. Cronk added 23 assists, 32 steals and six blocks.
 
Amillion Fowler, a junior from Richmond, was named to the All-Defensive Team. Fowler brought down 93 rebounds this season, 67 of those defensive. She added 24 steals and five blocks in her first season with the Cru.
 
UMHB finished the season at 17-9 with a 6-2 mark in American Southwest Conference action. This is the second all-conference award for Brisco and first for Okoye, Bruder, James, Cronk and Fowler.
