BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor acrobatics and tumbling team earned a big win over Hawaii Pacific University Friday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 3-1 on the season while the Sharks fell to 0-3.
UMHB opened the meet with a 35.80 in Compulsory, led by a 9.600 in Compulsory Toss. The Cru followed that with a 29.050 in Acro, scoring a 9.85 in Five Element with a pair of 9.6s in Six and Seven Element. UMHB closed out the first half with a 28.900 in Pyramid, highlighted by a 9.9 in Open Pyramid. The Cru totaled 93.75 points after the first three events.
Hawaii Pacific opened the meet with a 32.90 in Compulsory, scoring an event-high 9.650 in Compulsory Toss. The Sharks followed that with a 26.65 in Acro and a 26.75 in Pyramid for an 83.60 after the first half.
The Sharks opened the second half outscoring the Cru 26.75-26.50 in Toss. Both teams led the event with a 9.25 in Open Toss. UMHB edged Hawaii Pacific in the Tumbling pass, scoring a 50.975, highlighted by a 9.325 in the Aerial Pass. The Sharks scored a 50.825 in the event, led by a 9.75 in the Open Pass. The Cru outscored HPU 87.370-75.650 in Team Event, sealing the 258.595-239.525 win over the Sharks.
UMHB returns to action on Friday, March 14
th in a 6 p.m. (PT) contest at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
