GRANBURY, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's men's golf team came out swinging in Round One of UMHB Men's Invitational. The Cru set a new program record shooting 271 (-17) in Round One, beating the previous record by one shot which was set during the 2021-2022 season.
Carter Demske led the Cru shooting a career-best 65 (-7). Demske carded a bogey-free round with seven birdies.
Lucas Latimer followed closely behind shooting 67 (-5). Latimer carded four birdies and an eagle on the 11
th hole.
Colton O'Dell continued the 60's trend shooting 69 (-3) with six birdies while
Cole MacMillan shot 70 (-2) and carded five birdies.
Cade Barone and Will Mullin shot 73 (+1), followed by
Jack Workman with a 74 (+2).
Evan Acevedo shot 75 (+3),
Liam Odell shot 78 (+6) and
Jack Burgen carded a 79 (+7). Juan Andres Magallanes (+8) and
Ian Clough (+9) also competed for the Cru.
UMHB's 271 leads the team scoring at -17 Schreiner University stands in second shooting a 301 (+13), followed by East Texas Baptist in third with a 310 (+22). McMurry University is in fourth shooting a 316 (+28) while Howard Payne is in fifth shooting 319 (+31).
UMHB returns to action at the Nutcracker Golf Club in Granbury on Sunday, September 28th with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. The Cru will go into the second round of the UMHB Men's Invitational with a 30-stroke lead.
