BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team dropped a 7-4 decision to Macalester University Friday evening. This loss moves the Cru to 7-4 on the season, while the Scots improved to 2-2.
The Scots opened the first frame with one run on two hits. The Cru answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs on three consecutive singles from Riley Bender, Taylor McDaniel, and Nolan Williams, to take the 2-1 lead. UMHB added two more in the bottom of the fifth when McDaniel added an RBI double to left, scoring Easton Cline, who reached on a single. McDaniel later scored on a wild pitch, making it a 4-1 game. The Scots knotted the match at four in the eighth, taking the 7-4 lead in the top of the ninth. The Cru were unable to bounce back, dropping game one of the series.
Taylor McDaniel led the Cru, going two for three at the plate with two RBI and one run scored. Nolan Williams added an RBI while five other Crusaders had a hit each.
UMHB returns to action at Red Murff Field on Saturday, February 27th, in a 12:00pm doubleheader against Macalaster College.
