BUFFALO, New York — The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling defeated Canisius University (DI) and Buffalo State on Friday evening.
UMHB opened the meet sweeping the Compulsory event, outscoring both teams in each heat. The Cru topped the event with a 9.900 in Toss, with an event score of 37.600. UMHB followed with three more high scores in the Acro event (28.650), adding a 9.800 in Five Element. The Cru rounded out the first half with a 29.100 Pyramid score, leading the first half with a score of 95.350.
Canisius began the matchup with a 35.200 in Compulsory with a pair of 9.250s in Pyramid and Toss. The Griffs followed with a 25.800 in Acro, along with a 28.450 in Pyramid, to go into halftime with a score of 89.450.
Buffalo State rounded out the first half tabbing a 77.600. The Bengals opened the meet with a 26.900 Compulsory score, adding two 9.200s in the Pyramid and Toss heats. Buffalo State then added a 24.500 in Acro, along with a 26.150 in the Pyramid event.
The Cru tabbed the highest score in the Toss event with a score of 28.150, highlighted by a 9.750 in 450 Salto. Canisius followed with a 25.000, closed out by Buffalo State with a 24.350. UMHB then put up a 51.700 in Tumbling, defeating both teams, with the Griffs adding a score of 38.850, followed by the Bengals, who tallied a 39.800. The Cru sealed the victory with a Team Event score of 83.100 over Canisius (69.570) and Buffalo State (69.980).
UMHB ended with a final score of 258.300, trailed by Canisius with a score of 222.870, rounded out by Buffalo State with a final score of 211.730.
UMHB returns to action in Marshall, Texas, on Thursday, March 28th, in a 6:00pm matchup against East Texas Baptist University.
