Men’s Golf, MacMillan win West Region Invitational

WHITNEY, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Men's Golf earned its fifth win of the season with a win at the West Region Invitational Tuesday in Whitney. UMHB shot even-par in the final round of action to finish the tournament with an eight-stroke lead.
 
UMHB shot a 292-296-288=876 (+12) to win the tournament. Trinity dropped to second with a 296 (+8) on the final day, finishing at 884 (+20). Hardin-Simmons rounded out the top three with a 916 (+52), followed by University of Dallas and Southwestern both tied at +55. Southwestern B (+70) and Centenary (+91) also competed in the tournament.
 
Cole MacMillan won the individual title with a 70-68-70=208 (-8), carding three rounds under par. Cade Barone finished second, also carding three consecutive rounds under par with a 69 (-3) in the final round, finishing at 210 (-6). Lucas Latimer rounded out the top three, shooting a 68 (-4) on Tuesday to end at 215 (-1).
 
Colton O'Dell finished tied for 16th at +11 overall, followed by Carter Demske in 18th at +13 and Jack Workman in 20th with a +15. UMHB carded 15 birdies in the third round with four different players each recording an eagle. UMHB led the tournament in par-3 scoring (+8), par-5 scoring (-18), eagles (3) and pars (163). Latimer was the leader in par-3 scoring (-2) with MacMillan leading par-4s (-4) and Barone taking par-5s (-8). Barone also carded a tournament-high 13 birdies with MacMillan leading the field with 36 pars.
 
UMHB returns to action at the Emory Classic April 18th – 19th at Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers, Georgia.
