Men’s Golf in eighth at NCAA DIII Men’s Golf National Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fl. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team is in eighth place after the first day of action at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship.
 
UMHB shot a 289 (+1) in the first round, placing them in eighth overall and sixth among completed teams after the first round was called off for the day due to inclement weather in the area. Carter Demske and Cade Barone both opened the tournament with a 70 (-2), placing them in fifth individually. Lucas Latimer followed, carding a 73 (+1), followed by Cole MacMillan's 76 (+4) and Colton O'Dell's 81 (+9).
 
Only 24 of the 43-team field completed their first round of play with more than 100 athletes unfinished. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps leads the field of completed round-one teams with a 284 (-4), followed by Carnegie Mellon at -3 and Kenyon at -2. Methodist and Emory are currently tied for fifth at even. Bethel (-1), Hartford (E) and Farmingdale State (+2) are currently in the top ten but have only completed partial rounds.
 
Championship play resumes on Wednesday, May 13th with a 7:30 a.m. tee time for unfinished teams. UMHB will follow, beginning its second round of action at 2:35 p.m.
