Softball places eight on all-conference teams; Denn and Jolley win superlatives

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team placed eight athletes on the All-American Southwest Conference teams, released Wednesday. UMHB had two athletes named First Team and six chosen Second Team. Madelyn Denn and Ava Jolley also earned superlatives.

Madelyn Denn was named ASC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Denn, a sophomore from McGregor, earned four wins in the circle this season with 48 innings pitched. She gave up just 18 earned runs on the year and threw a WHIP of 1.44 with three complete games. Denn limited batters to a .296 average in her sophomore year.

Ava Jolley was named ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. Jolley, a sophomore from Kingwood, started in 41 games as a catcher. She hit .274 this season, adding 29 hits with 20 runs scored and eight RBI. Jolley added six stolen bases with six runners caught stealing and 139 putouts.

Jordan Iverson joined Denn on the ASC First Team. Iverson, a second baseman from Kingwood, started in 44 games for the Cru. She totaled 36 hits in 121 at-bats, scoring 16 runs with 10 doubles. Iverson also tallied 19 RBI on the season, with a .298 batting average. As a second baseman, Iverson added 75 putouts with 71 assists and eight double plays.

Bralyn Belk, Ava Perlinger, Shorey Nguyen, Ryleigh Mills, Chloe Booth and Katherine Neal were named Second Team All-ASC.

Bralyn Belk, a third baseman from Axtell, played in 44 games this season, starting in 41. Belk hit .280 with 28 hits. She scored 13 runs, adding nine doubles and three home runs. Belk also batted in 19 runs with 48 total bases. She added 90 assists and 41 putouts in a .956 fielding percentage at third base.

Ava Perlinger, an outfielder from Round Rock, played in 35 games with 30 starts. She totaled 26 hits on 78 at-bats, adding sixteen runs scored and 17 RBI. Perlinger, leading the Cru with a .333 batting average on the season.She added 25 putouts and three assists.

Shorey Nguyen, an outfielder from Carrollton, played in 44 games this season, starting in 43 contests. She led the Cru with 35 runs scored, tallying 38 hits and 14 RBI. Nguyen totaled 47 bases on the year, hitting .284 in her last season with the Cru. She added 22 stolen bases with 69 putouts and one assist in a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Ryleigh Mills, a designated player from Lufkin, started in 38 games. She tallied 27 hits with 12 runs scored, adding 23 RBI. Mills totaled 34 bases on the year, hitting .293 in her last season with the Cru.

Chloe Booth, a pitcher from San Antonio, earned five wins in the circle with 57 innings pitched. Booth had one shutout with 17 appearances and eight starts. Booth tossed four complete games, striking out 27 batters.

Katherine Neal, a pitcher from Tyler, earned six wins on the mound. Neal threw 50.2 innings this season, giving up just 33 earned runs. She struck out 41 batters and allowed only 11 extra-base hits in her first season as a Crusader.

UMHB finished the 2026 season with a 22-22 overall record and advanced to the ASC Championship Game.
