Men’s Golf places five on all-conference teams; Latimer, Barone, O’Dell and Cox win superlatives

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf named five golfers to the All-American Southwest Conference teams, released Monday. Lucas Latimer was named Golfer of the Year, Cade Barone earned Newcomer of the Year, Colton O'Dell was selected Freshman of the Year and Jordan Cox was named Coach of the Year.  
 
Lucas Latimer was named Golfer of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Latimer, a freshman from Rockwall, is ranked 26th nationally with a fifth-place ranking in the region. Latimer is averaging a 70.8 across 26 rounds this season with 13 rounds of par-or-better. He carded a season-low 64 (-8) at the Grey Stone Classic with a pair of 67s (-5) at the UMHB Men's Invitational and ASC Championship. Latimer finished five tournaments under-par with a 208 (-8) at the Grey Stone Classic. He has one individual win on the season with three top-three finishes and five top-five performances.
 
Cade Barone was named Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Barone, a graduate student from Boerne, was the individual medalist at the ASC Championship, carding a 214 (-2) to win the tournament by three strokes. Barone is ranked third regionally, averaging a 70.8 across 20 rounds this year. He has four top-five finishes this year with a season-best 210 (-6) showing at the West Region Invitational.
 
Colton O'Dell was named Freshman of the Year and First Team All-ASC. O'Dell, a native of Georgetown, is ranked sixth regionally with a 27th slot nationally. He is carding an average of 71.5 this season across 26 total rounds. O'Dell has 15 rounds of par-or-better this season, highlighted by a 65 (-6) at the West Pines Invitational. He earned the individual win at the West Pines Invitational with a 206 (-7), finishing four tournaments under par with three top-three performances.
 
Cole MacMillan was named First Team All-ASC. MacMillan, a sophomore from Round Rock, is ranked eighth national and second in the region. MacMillan is averaging a 70.6 across 26 rounds this season. He tallied 15 rounds under par this season with a season-best -4 three times. MacMillan earned wins at the Texas Tri-Match and West Region Invitational with second-place finishes at the UMHB Men's Invitational, Grey Stone Classic and ASC Championship.
 
Carter Demske was named Second Team All-ASC. Demske, a freshman from Garrett, Ind., is averaging a 72.4 this season, playing in 26 total rounds. He shot a season-low 65 (-7) at the UMHB Men's Invitational, winning that tournament with a 137 (-7). Demske totaled nine rounds of par-or-better, finishing top-ten in three tournaments.
 
Jordan Cox was named ASC Coach of the Year. Cox has guided the Cru to a third-place national ranking and top spot in the region. UMHB is averaging a 283.3 over 26 rounds with 12 total rounds of par-or-better. The Cru won the ASC Championship this season by 68 strokes, carding a 853 (-11). UMHB shot a season-low at the UMHB Men's Invitational, carding rounds of 17 and seven under for a 552 (-24). The Cru also has six wins on the season with top-five finishes in all nine tournaments played.
 
This is the second all-conference award for MacMillan and first for Latimer, O'Dell, Barone and Demske. UMHB returns to action in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship Tournament May 12th – 15th in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
