MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team dropped an 8-0 decision to East Texas Baptist in the American Southwest Conference Championship game Saturday in Marshall.
Jordan Iverson tabbed the first hit of the game, placing a single in left field in the first inning. Macy Alewine added a single of her own in the second, but the Cru was unable to capitalize. After two scoreless innings, the Tigers got on the board first with a two-run third frame.
ETBU plated one run in the fourth, extending the lead to 3-0. The Tigers broke it open in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on six hits to secure the 8-0 victory.
Jordan Iverson and Macy Alewine added a single each, while Ava Jolley added a double. Madelyn Denn started for the Cru in the circle, with appearances from Chloe Booth and Katherine Neal.
Addy Todd, Bralyn Belk, and Chloe Booth were named to the ASC All-Tournament Team. This rounds out the season for UMHB, with the Cru finishing the season with a record of 22-22.
