Biography

Austin will have a chance to play her way into the starting centerfielder’s job for the Cru this season. She will also compete for playing time at the corner outfield spots. Austin stepped right into a reserve role in the outfield last season and finished with a .324 batting average, one home run and six RBI. She also tied for second on the team with four stolen bases. Austin played in 28 games and started 14 and she posted three multiple-hit games. Austin played two years of softball at Navarro Junior College. She was a two-time All-State and Academic All-State softball player at Dawson High School, where she also lettered in volleyball and basketball. Austin is majoring in mass communications at UMHB. She is the daughter of Patty and Steve McCormick.
