Melissa Mojica

Melissa Mojica was promoted to head coach of the UMHB softball team in June of 2020. She guided the Cru to a 27-14 mark and ASC Runners-Up finish in her first season at the helm. Mojica followed that with a 32-11 record in 2022, guiding the Cru to a top 10 national ranking.

UMHB won the program's first ASC Regular Season Championship under Mojica's leadership in the 2023 season. The Cru advanced to the championship game of the ASC Softball Championship Tournament and also earned the right to host the program's first NCAA Division III Softball Regional. UMHB finished the 2023 season with a 35-14 mark, tying the program's record for wins in a season.

Mojica helped the Cru to a 115-70 record in her five-year tenure as assistant coach. The Cru advanced to four ASC championships tournaments and finished the abbreviated 2020 season ranked tenth in the country. 

Mojica spent nine seasons as an assistant softball coach at her alma mater West High School. The Lady Trojans won six district championships and appeared in four state tournaments during her tenure. Mojica also coached volleyball and basketball during her time at West. 

Mojica is a 2005 graduate of Baylor University and she was a two-year letter winner and starter for the Baylor softball team. She played for two NCAA Tournament qualifiers with the Bears and her game-winning double against North Carolina as a junior gave Baylor the first NCAA postseason victory in the history of the Bears softball program. Mojica was also an All-American softball player at Temple College. She played for two Texas Junior College Northern Conference Championships under former UMHB Head Coach Larry Hennig with the Leopards.

Mojica and her husband, David, were married in 2019. The couple has four daughters, Savannah, Avery, Tagen and Mack.
