Brad Bankhead

Brad Bankhead was named Associate Athletics Director and NCAA Compliance Officer in June 2022. He closed out a 16-year tenure as head coach for the men’s soccer program, guiding the Cru to a 169-86-26 record. The Cru won back-to-back ASC Championships in 2017 and 2018 under Bankhead and UMHB also claimed the ASC regular season title in 2009. UMHB advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III National Championships in 2018, to the Sectionals of the NCAA Division III National Championships in 2017 and also earned an NCAA postseason berth in 2009. His rosters include four all-America selections, more than 16 all-region honorees and more than 100 all-ASC award winners.

Bankhead came to UMHB from Abilene High School, where he spent four years as head boy's soccer coach. Bankhead compiled a 57-33-9 record with the Eagles. Bankhead guided AHS to the District 3-5A Championship in 2005 and won district Coach of the Year honors. He also spent one season working with the Hardin-Simmons University women's soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach. The Cowgirls finished 20-2 overall, won the American Southwest Conference championship and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III National Championships. Bankhead spent one season as an assistant men's soccer coach at Cumberland College in Kentucky and served as a volunteer assistant for the Hardin-Simmons men's soccer team in 2000. Bankhead holds an Advanced National Diploma and a National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Bankhead is a 2000 graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and he was a four-year letterman for the Cowboys soccer team. Bankhead was a three-time All-ASC selection and played for two ASC Championship teams at HSU. He also spent one summer playing for the Colorado Springs Stampede in the Professional Development League. Bankhead and his wife, Shannon, have three children: Mallory, Morgan and Max.
