Austin, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team used another stifling defensive effort and a timely goal to post a 1-0 victory over Concordia Texas Thursday afternoon in Austin. The Cru improves to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Tornados to 3-3-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the ASC on the season.
The two teams were locked up in a scoreless duel through the first half before UMHB finally broke through early in the second half. Bo Baker scored an unassisted goal at the 57:10 mark to make it 1-0 and that's all the scoring that UMHB would need. The Cru out shot Concordia 21-15 in the match and only allowed four shots on goal. UMHB goalkeeper Mark Miller finished with four saves for his fourth straight shutout for the Cru.
The Cru will continue its road trip with a 3:00 PM kickoff at U.T.-Tyler Saturday afternoon in Tyler. The UMHB men will then return home to host U.T.-Dallas and University of the Ozarks in a pair of crucial ASC matches next Friday and Saturday.
