Volleyball falls to East Texas Baptist in three sets

Marshall, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell behind early and never recovered as the Cru dropped a three-set decision to East Texas Baptist University Thursday evening in Marshall. The loss drops UMHB to 5-14 overall and 2-2 in American Southwest Conference play this season. ETBU improves to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the ASC with the victory.
            UMHB dropped set one and never recovered in a 25-17, 25-22, 25-12 loss to the Tigers. Sara Hayward had a team-best nine kills for UMHB and she also posted five total blocks. Christina Miller chipped in with seven kills. Kayla Marzean had a team-high 25 assists and she also reached double figures with 10 digs. Kaydie Cochran had a team-best 18 digs to go with six kills and Erin Maenius also posted 15 digs for the Cru.
            The Cru will now open play at the ASC Crossover Tournament tomorrow afternoon in Marshall. UMHB will face Sul Ross State University in a 2:00 PM start before taking on Concordia Texas in a 4:30 PM start. The Cru will then play two more matches on Saturday.
