Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team scored early and often and the Cru women rolled to a 9-0 victory over University of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon in Belton. The UMHB women improve to 8-3 overall and 7-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Eagles to 3-10 overall and 2-5 in the ASC on the year.
UMHB grabbed a 1-0 lead on Angel Kemmerer's unassisted goal 10:30 into the match. Erin Salyer would score off a Brooke Magers assist at the 34:00 mark before Magers scored an unassisted goal of her own to make it 3-0 UMHB at the half. Lexy Smith and Kim Wobecky both scored off Salyer assists in a span minute span early in the second half to stretch the lead to 5-0. Jordan Powers and Bailey Lowery then each scored in a five-minute span starting at the 66:00 mark to make it 7-0. Mickie Arredondo and Samantha Thomas then added goals in the final 17 minutes of the match to provide the final margin. Nine different players scored goals for UMHB and Salyer also added three assists to her goal. Meredith West, Erica Harris and Allyson Sargeant combined for two saves and the shutout in goal for the Cru women/ Lori Langman posted seven saves in goal for the Eagles. UMHB outshot Ozarks 33-4 in the match and put 16 of those shots on goal.
The Cru women will now hit the road for a pair of ASC matches next week. The UMHB women will face Mississippi College in a 1:00 PM start next Thursday before closing out the week with an 11:00 AM start at Louisiana College on Saturday.
