Football to face Mississippi College in first place showdown

Clinton, MS – Sole possession of first place in the American Southwest Conference will be on the line when the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team tangles with Mississippi College this Saturday in Clinton, Mississippi. The Cru is currently 5-0 overall and 4-0 in ASC play while the Choctaws will bring a 4-1 overall record and a 3-0 mark in ASC play into the game. UMHB and MC are the only two teams still unbeaten in ASC play and the winner of Saturday's game will control its own destiny in the race for the conference title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Cru will bring a 33-game ASC winning streak into Saturday's game and UMHB has won 10 in a row against the Choctaws. But Mississippi College also has the league's most prolific offense and the Cru knows it will have its hands full.
“They brought in a bunch of transfers and they are playing better defensively,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “They've got real good receivers and a lot of skill guys that can make plays. The quarterback (Adam Shaffer) may be the best we'll face all year and they also run the ball pretty well. This will be a huge test for us offensively and we can't afford to make mistakes.”

The game will kick off at 1:00 PM at Robinson-Hale Stadium on the Mississippi College campus. You can follow the game through live video, live audio and live stats. Links to all of those can be found on the UMHB athletic department at www.cruathletics.com.
