Pineville, LA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team grabbed a quick lead and never looked back as the Cru rolled to an 8-0 victory over Louisiana College Saturday afternoon in Pineville, Louisiana. The UMHB men improve to 11-2 overall and 9-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-15 overall and 1-8 in the ASC on the year.
The Cru grabbed a 1-0 lead when Trevor Shoppach scored 3:30 into the match. Daniel Gable scored a pair of goals to stretch the lead to 3-0 and Neiko Camp added two more to give UMHB a 5-0 halftime lead. Ryan Yee and Andrew Carrasco added goals to stretch the Cru lead to 7-0 before Drew Shipman capped the scoring with 19 seconds left in the match. Mark Miller played the first half in goal for UMHB and Adam Cecil took the second half to combine for the shutout for the Cru.
The Cru will now return home for a pair of key ASC matches next weekend. UMHB will host Hardin-Simmons University for a 3:00 PM start on Friday before welcoming McMurry University to the Cru Sports Plex for a 3:00 PM kickoff on Saturday.
