Volleyball drops two at ASC Cross-Over Tournament

Abilene, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team could not overcome early deficits in either match and the Cru lost a pair of matches on the final day of the American Southwest Conference Cross-Over Tournament in Abilene on Saturday. UMHB opened the day with a 22-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-9 loss to Howard Payne. The Cru then lost 25-21, 25-10, 25-20 to McMurry University to close out the day. UMHB is now 7-23 overall and 4-10 in ASC play on the year.
            The Cru let an early lead slip away in that loss to Howard Payne. Christina Miller topped UMHB with 17 kills and Kaydie Cochran and Erin Tabb added 10 kills apiece. Kayla Marzean had 20 assists and Erin Maenius posted a team-high 23 digs for the Cru.

            The Cru never recovered from an early deficit in the three-set loss to McMurry. Cochran had a team-high 10 kills for UMHB. Alexis Tharp led the Cru with 10 assists and Maenius had a team-best nine digs.

            The Cru will return to ASC East Division play next weekend. UMHB will travel to Clinton, Mississippi to take on Mississippi College in the only action next week.
