Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team could not overcome a pair of late U.T.-Tyler goals as the Cru women fell to the Lady Patriots 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Tyler. The loss knocks the UMHB women from the ranks of the unbeatens in the American Southwest Conference and the Cru women fall to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the ASC on the season. U.T.-Tyler improves to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the ASC with the victory.
The two teams were scoreless through the first half and the first 23 minutes of the second half before U.T.-Tyler finally broke the scoreless tie. Emily Bechdol's unassisted goal at the 68:18 mark made it 1-0 Lady Patriots. U.T.-Tyler would add an insurance goal when Lauren Thomas scored off an assist from Lauren Pate at the 79:53 mark and UMHB could not close the gap.
The Cru women were outshot 25-5 in the loss. Allyson Sargeant had nine saves in goal for UMHB while Sam Fraser posted three saves in goal for U.T.-Tyler.
The Cru women will now return home for a pair of key ASC matches next weekend. UMHB will host U.T.-Dallas for a 1:00 PM start next Friday. The Cru women will welcome University of the Ozarks to the Cru Sports Plex for a 1:00 PM kickoff next Saturday.
