Women's basketball falls to U.T.-Dallas

Richardson, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team could not overcome a cold shooting night and the Cru women dropped a 61-46 decision to U.T.-Dallas Saturday afternoon in Richardson. The loss drops the UMHB women to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in American Southwest Conference play on the season. U.T.-Dallas improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the ASC with the victory.
            
            UMHB opened up a 6-0 lead to start the game before UTD began to chip away. The Comets closed the half with a 7-0 run to take a 29-23 halftime lead. UTD would then stretch the lead to as many as 21 points in the second half before UMHB rallied late to cut it to the final margin.

            Landie Thompson came off the bench to lead UMHB with nine points. Kellie Thomas added eight points for the Cru and Jenny Black grabbed a team-best seven rebounds. Chelsea Edwards led a balanced UTD scoring attack with 12 points and Kori Joyce added 11 points off the bench. Rachel Addison scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

            The Cru shot just 34.6 per cent from the field and UMHB was just 1-6 from three-point range. The Cru shot just 7-15 from the free-throw line in the second half. The Comets shot 39 per cent from the field and out rebounded the Cru 42-39. UMHB also turned the ball over 24 times in the loss.

            The Cru women will wrap up the road trip with a 530 PM tip-off at University of the Ozarks Monday in Clarksville, Arkansas. The UMHB women will then return home to host LeTourneau University and East Texas Baptist next Thursday and Saturday.
