Sherman, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team grabbed control of the match early and then pulled away for a three-set victory over Jarvis Christian to open the Austin College Classic today in Sherman. The Cru improves to 2-5 on the season with the victory. UMHB will now close out the first day of the tournament with an 8:00 PM match against Mid-America Christian tonight.
UMHB topped Jarvis 25-23, 25-20, 25-7 in the match. Kaydie Cochran led the Cru with 11 kills and she added four digs. Christina Miller chipped in nine kills, three service aces and two block assists. Kayla Marzean had a team-high 21 assists and Alexis Tharp added nine assists and 10 digs. Erin Maenius had a team-high 13 digs and Erin Tabb added eight kills.
The tournament will wrap up tomorrow with the Cru playing two matches. UMHB will face Ouachita Baptist University in a 1:00 PM start before closing out the tournament with a 5:00 PM match against tournament host Austin College.
