Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will open defense of its American Southwest Conference championship when league play kicks off this Saturday. The Cru, ranked 3rd in the country by D3football.com, travels to Seguin to face Texas Lutheran University in a 6:00 PM start at Matador Stadium. UMHB is 1-0 on the season after opening the year with a 42-7 victory over Southern Nazarene last Saturday. TLU is 0-1 to start the year after dropping a heartbreaking 22-21 decision to Trinity University last weekend. UMHB's victory over Southern Nazarene was win #100 in the history of Cru football. UMHB will bring a nine-game winning streak against the Bulldogs into Saturday's game and the Cru has also won 29 straight ASC contests. The players and coaches know that none of that matters if the Cru isn't prepared this Saturday, though.
“Texas Lutheran looks very well-coached and they really play within themselves,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “We know we are going to get their absolute best effort and we have to be ready for that. We've learned the hard way from some of our past experiences that we need to be ready for each and every game. We can't look past anyone and with this being the conference opener against a team that really knows us, we should not have a problem getting ready to play.”
The Cru will be broadcast locally on KTEM, 1400 AM and there will also be a live audio stream through the UMHB athletic department web site. Texas Lutheran will also be offering a live video stream and live stats from the game. You can access all of those links through the UMHB football web page.
