Seguin, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team broke open a tight match with a pair of second half goals as the Cru went on to a 3-1 victory over Texas Lutheran in the conference opener Friday afternoon in Seguin. The UMHB men improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the ASC on the season.
            UMHB would grab a 1-0 lead when Andrew Carrasco scored an unassisted goal 21:37 into the match. Morgan Parker would tie the game at one when he scored for the Bulldogs 18 minutes later. It would stay 1-1 into the second half before the Cru was able to break it open. Trevor Shoppach scored off an assist from Ben Allen at the 57:13 mark. Andrew Shipman then scored an insurance goal off Bo Baker's assist 79:42 into the match. Mark Miller had three saves in goal for the Cru and Trey Tresno had three saves for TLU in the match. The Bulldogs actually out shot UMHB 16-13, but the Cru held TLU to just three shots in the second half of the match.
            The Cru will continue its road trip with another ASC match at Schreiner University tomorrow. UMHB will take on the Mountaineers in a 4:00 PM kickoff in Kerrville.
