Men's soccer edges Schreiner 1-0 in double overtime

Kerrville, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team finally broke through in the second overtime to post a 1-0 double overtime victory over Schreiner University Saturday afternoon in Kerrville. The Cru improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops Schreiner to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the ASC on the season.
            The two teams were scoreless through regulation and the first overtime before the Cru finally broke through. Bo Baker scored off an assist from Daniel Gable 6:38 into the second overtime for the game-winning goal. UMHB out shot the Mountaineers 14-10 in a defensive struggle and Mark Miller went the distance with four saves for the shut out in goal for the Cru. Matt Johnson had four saves in goal for Schreiner in the match.
            The Cru will now return home for the 2009 home openers next weekend. The UMHB men will host East Texas Baptist for a 4:00 PM kickoff. The Cru will then welcome LeTourneau University to the Cru Sports Plex for a 4:00 PM start on Saturday.
