Kerrville, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team grabbed the lead early in the second half and never looked back as the Cru women rolled to a 4-0 victory over Schreiner University Saturday afternoon in Kerrville. UMHB improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops Schreiner to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the ASC on the season.
The game was scoreless through the first half and the opening 20 minutes of the second half. Erin Salyer finally broke the scoreless tie for the Cru when she converted a direct kick in the 65th minute. Salyer would quickly add another goal to make it 2-0. Lexy Smith and Mickie Arrendondo would add insurance goals for the Cru women to provide the final margin. Meredith West would make it stand up for the Cru, posting a pair of saves for her first shutout of the season.
The Cru women will now return home for the first home action of the season next weekend. UMHB will host East Texas Baptist for a 2:00 PM start on Friday before closing out the weekend with a 2:00 PM kick off against LeTourneau University on Saturday. Both of those matches will be played at the Cru Sports Plex.
