Volleyball edged in five sets by Belhaven

Fort Worth, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team stormed back from an early deficit, but the Cru's comeback fell just short in a five-set loss to Belhaven College Saturday morning in Fort Worth. The loss drops UMHB to 3-11 on the season. The Blazers improve to 8-7 on the year with the victory.
            The Cru dropped the first two sets before roaring back to win the next two. Belhaven then held off the UMHB rally in the fifth set to post a 25-20, 25-12, 25-27, 22-25, 15-13 victory. Christina Miller topped the Cru with a career-high 19 kills and Kaydie Cochran added 11 kills and 14 digs. Erin Maenius had a team-high 26 digs for the Cru and Kayla Marzean added 35 assists. Marzean also had three service aces for UMHB.
            The Cru will close out the tournament with a 5:00 PM match against John Brown University this afternoon. UMHB will then return to American Southwest Conference play with a 5:00 PM match at LeTourneau University next Friday.
