Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team broke open a tight game early in the second half and the Cru women rolled to a 3-0 victory over East Texas Baptist University Friday afternoon in Belton. The UMHB women improve to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops ETBU to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the ASC on the season.
            The Cru would lead 1-0 early in the second half before breaking the game open with a pair of goals in a 1:33 span. Angel Kemmerer's unassisted goal made it 2-0 UMHB at the 56:36 mark and Mickie Arredondo added a goal off a Lexy Smith assist 58:09 into the match to stretch it to 3-0. Cru goalkeeper Allyson Sargeant would make it stand up, posting five saves in goal for the shutout. Brooke Magers scored off an assist from Erin Salyer 20:50 into the first half to give the Cru a 1-0 lead that would carry into the second half. UMHB outshot the Tigers 13-10 in the match and ETBU goalkeeper Tamara Carlisle recorded three saves in goal in the match.
            The Cru will now close out the weekend with a 2:00 home match against LeTourneau University tomorrow afternoon at the Cru Sports Plex. UMHB will then hit the road for matches at Concordia Texas and U.T.-Tyler next week.
