Longview, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team played its best match of the season and the Cru rolled to a three-set victory over LeTourneau University Friday afternoon in Longview. UMHB improves to 4-12 overall and 1-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops LeTourneau to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the ASC on the year.
UMHB started strong and then rolled to a 25-20, 25-19, 25-16 victory. The Cru hit .442 as a team and added six service aces and eight team blocks. Kaydie Cochran led UMHB with 11 kills and Christina Miller also reached double figures with 10 kills. Kayla Marzean had 39 assists and Erin Maenius posted a team-high eight digs for the Cru. Marzean also had three of UMHB's six service aces. Kristen Chapman had 12 kills to lead LeTourneau and Kathryn Drinkard added 26 assists.
The Cru will now play a pair of matches tomorrow in Tyler. UMHB will open with a 1:00 PM ASC match at U.T.-Tyler before taking on University of Dallas in a 5:00 PM non-conference match.
